Help me understand

Enduring success relies on finding where your less obvious strengths lie.

I recently attended a mini training on how to balance work and life, the instructor believes that a person should focus on strength not the weakness.

Can someone enlighten me on this please. Am I not understanding this that we should focus on our weakness, use it to our advantage? Am I taking it out of the context?

Help me understand.

The book “managing oneself” by Peter Drucker explains this well. So Peter Drucker, who was the founder of modern business management and a business professor at Harvard, said that people can only perform through their strengths. If you focus on what you’re bad at, the best you’ll become is average. but if you focus on what you’re good at, then you can eventually become great. Now, you can always try to improve your weaknesses to your advantage, but it’s like Drucker says, “one should waste as little effort as possible on improving areas of low competence. It takes far more energy and work to improve from incompetence to mediocrity than it takes to improve from first-rate performance to excellence.” It’s the idea that you double down on your strengths and you delegate your weaknesses. hope this helps, maybe I misunderstood what you didn’t understand though

Great question! My take on strengths vs. weaknesses is by first focusing on what is right, before examining what is wrong, most people are motivated to move beyond, and in some cases, be transformed by their current limitations, history, and circumstances. Strengths first.. then weaknesses. Hope that helps!
